Resources for parents, teachers, educators, social workers...
CHILD DEVELOPMENT and SUPPORTING YOUR CHILD
These resources came out of working with refugee children and their families in Izmir, Turkey. Parents regularly wanted to know how their child "should" be developing and what to expect. They also wanted to know how they could support children who had experienced trauma or chronic stress.
Together with Merve Minkari Tunçay, clinical psychologist, we developed these simple resources in the hope that can offer some support and comfort to parents who are doing their absolute best.
The documents are designed to go together. The first is an infographic showing developmental milestones for children from 1 to 10 years with the awareness that all children are different. The second is a series of posters offering 4 ways to support your child - being consistent, offering choices, exploring emotions and using the body. You are welcome to use these resources however feels most helpful for you and those your are working with.
Please feel free to share widely. Feedback and reflections always welcome.
Currently available in Arabic, English and Farsi.
